Founded in 2004, Semantic Web Company, is an IT company headquartered in Vienna, Austria.
The company is a provider of Semantic Web infrastructure technologies and services used to support semantic information integration and semantic search based on linked data principles at the enterprise level.
History
The company was founded in 2004 by Andreas Blumauer, Tassilo Pellegrini, Andreas Koller and Martin Kaltenböck as a spin-off from punkt. netServices (Austria) to offer professional knowledge transfer services in the area of the upcoming Semantic Web. The initial name of the company "Semantic Web School" was replaced by "Semantic Web Company" in 2008 due to a shift of the focus on commercial consulting services. In 2010 the company became partner of LOD2, one of the largest EU-projects in the area of linked data.
In 2005 the company initiated the SEMANTiCS conference series (from 2007 until 2013 known as I-Semantics), today one of the largest conferences about semantic technologies in Europe.
In 2011 Semantic Web Company merged with its former parent company punkt. netServices and continues trading under the name of Semantic Web Company GmbH.
Since 2013 Semantic Web Company cooperates with OpenLink Software.
