Gameplay
Potions: A Curious Tale is an adventure crafting game where combat is not always the answer. The main character is a young girl, Luna, who overcomes obstacles with the potions she brews.
Luna's only method of fighting is using her potions as weapons. They act as both her ammo for fighting monsters as well as her tools to help her friends and solve the puzzles of the town and surrounding lands. Careless use of her potions slows progress and foils her missions, adding a resource management aspect to the gameplay.
Limits on number of held items while in the world also forces players to make tough decisions in regards to what items to bring back home to use in crafting.
Plot
Potions: A Curious Tale is set in a world based on fables and fairy tales from various cultures. Luna, the main character, is a young girl with newfound magic powers that enable her to craft potions. After her potion experimentation at her home causes mayhem, her mother sends her to be watched over and study with her grandmother, who has similar powers. Upon arriving her grandmother sets her out on gathering the items and potion recipes she needs to be considered a full-fledged witch.
Development
Potions: A Curious Tale is currently in development by the indie studio Stumbling Cat. It runs on Unity 5. The game makes use of 3D models which have been rendered into 2D sprites, giving additional depth to the game.
