Arzu Naghiyev

Arzu Naghiyev is deputy director general at Trend News Agency of Azerbaijan. Naghiyev is also an expert on regional geopolitics. He is a member of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers and author of three fiction books and several fundamental studies.
Biography
Arzu Naghiyev was born on July 27, 1963 in a family of doctors. He graduated from the secondary school in Tovuz District with a gold medal in 1980. In 1985, Naghiyev graduated from the Moscow Institute of Management. In 1991, he graduated from the Higher School of KGB (State Security Committee) USSR in Tbilisi with a diploma of distinction.
In 1985-1989, he worked in the construction trust and in the Komsomol organization. In 1989-2011, Naghiyev was on active military service in the bodies of Azerbaijan’s State Security Committee-Ministry of National Security, starting from the post of security officer to the department head in the ministry. He is a veteran of the Nagorno-Karabakh war.
Naghiyev has repeatedly represented Azerbaijan at conferences and seminars on fighting corruption, terrorism, human trafficking, drug trafficking. He was a participant and an expert of such international programs as SCAD, CARICC, International Intelligence Academy, Virginia Tech-TISD-OSCE, UNODC Open Analyst.
