Zhao Xinmin

Zhao Xinmin (February 13, 1956 - February 1, 2002) was a Chinese police officer from Wenshui County, Shanxi Province. For his bravery, he was honored as one of the first recipients of CCTV’s "Touching China Annual Person of the Year Award" award in 2002.
Biography
Early life
Zhao Xinmin was born on February 13, 1956. He started working in March 1974. He entered the public security system in November 1976. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in December 1990. Zhao and his colleagues intervened, with Zhao positioning himself between the suspect and the store entrance to prevent potential mass casualties. At that moment, the suspect detonated the explosives. Zhao sustained severe injuries and, despite emergency medical efforts, succumbed to his wounds at 2:55 PM that day. For his heroic actions during the 2002 Urumqi bombing incident, Zhao was also named one of the 2002 Touching China Persons of the Year.<ref name=":2" />
