Yongbei Tang
Yongbei Tang is an Australian journalist and a Tasmanian Greens candidate for the Hobart City Council.
Career
Tang was raised during the Chinese Cultural Revolution, and began her journalistic career for a newspaper in Hainan. She moved to Australia in 1996. She is the President of the Chinese Cultural Society of Tasmania (CCST).
2018 Hobart City Council campaign
Tang is a candidate for alderman with Hobart City Council, and during the campaign she was accused of being a member of the Communist Party of China, an allegation she denied. Cassy O'Connor, leader of the Tasmanian Greens, alleged that Tang had improperly close connections with the Government of China.
