He completed his schooling from New English School, Pune. And completed his graducation from MES college of Arts, Commerse and Science, Bangalore.
Vivek Lagoo met in Reema Lagoo, her future colleague in the bank and stage actor, in 1976 before marrying in 1978. Upon marriage, she adopted the name Reema Lagoo. Described by Vivek as "an understanding to restructure our lives", they divorced later.

Lagoo was married to a famous hindi film accress Reema Lagoo. They first met her in November '76 where they both were working in the bank and Reema wanted to persue her career in films. They are blessed with a daughter named Mrunmayee Lagoo. The pair divorced later. Rima died in 2017.
