Sushil Narsian
Sushil Narsian (born November 1, 1978) is a Mumbai-based design consultant who became a minor celebrity all over India on April 1, 2017 for being erroneously charged INR 149 crore ($22 million) by Indian taxi-hailing company Ola Cabs. The incident happened on April 1, 2017 when Narsian posted on Facebook that he was charged INR 149 crore for a 300m ride by Ola cabs. Since the incident happened on April 1, it was presumed that it was an April Fool's Day prank on part of Ola but it was actually a technical glitch that could have been caused by misinterpreting the time of hailing taxi "Sat, 01 Apr 2017 13:00:48 GMT" as epoch time 1491051648, which is a standard way of storing dates in computers.
Ola Cabs responded, refunded his money and fixed the anomaly within two hours but the incident by then became viral and was widely reported in most national newspapers and news channels including the Times of India, Deccan Chronicle, NDTV among others. The incident was trending at #12 on Twitter in India at its peak.
