Stephanie Seungmin Kim

Stephanie Seungmin Kim is a South Korean curator, filmmaker, and a writer based in London. She is known as the founder and CEO of Iskai Contemporary Art and Sleepers Summit Incorporation.
Early life and education
Kim received her Bachelors of Art degree from the . Later, she completed her at University College London, followed by a PhD from the Royal College of Art.
Career
From 2007 to 2011, Kim served as the founding curator of the Korean Cultural Centre UK in London. In 2011, she founded the curatorial research centre, Iskai Art which produces and commissions both public and commercial art projects. Throughout her career, she has curated and directed over 80 international exhibitions in 22 cities, collaborating with more than 500 artists. In 2016, she curated the exhibition Jikji, the Golden Seed as part of the first Jikji Korea International Festival in Cheongju, South Korea.
In addition to her curatorial work, Kim directed the 2019 theoretical essay film Fragments, which explores themes of cultural amnesia and historical trauma. The film received awards and nominations at various international film festivals, including the Moscow International Film Festival and Cannes World Film Festival. In 2018, she produced and art-directed Sleepers in Venice, a documentary following the making of a group exhibition during the Venice Biennale.
In 2022, she curated the Mom Mam Exhibition at SOMA Museum of art. It was a sports and art exhibition which displayed works of various artists indicating a link between body, art and sports. In 2024, she curated the exhibition "SoHo's Got Seoul" at Park West Gallery in SoHo, New York, U.S., where various Korean artists including Solbi displayed their works. Many Korean artists including Solbi, Lee Min-woo and Go Joon attended the exhibition.
