Rud Browne

Rud Browne is a politician and entrepreneur, and currently a member of the Whatcom County Council in Washington State. He was elected in November 2013 and was sworn into office on January 13, 2014. In the 2013 election, Browne beat out Bill Knutzen for the Whatcom County Council At-Large seat by 3,508 votes.
Besides serving on the council, he is also the Chairman and CEO of Ryanna Capital, an investment firm focused on environmentally sustainable business models. He was previously the founder and former Chairman/Owner of The Ryzex Group a global mobile technology services company. As of July 2017, Browne is running for re-election on the Whatcom County Council. While he currently holds an At-Large seat, he is running to represent Council District #1, South Bellingham, a newly created district.
Political career
In 2013, Browne ran successfully for the Whatcom County Council as part of a progressive slate of candidates, which included Barry Buchanan, Carl Weimer, and Ken Mann. During the 2013 Whatcom County Council election, the campaign of Browne's opponent, Bill Knutzen, created a hoax website in Rud Browne's name, which Knutzen eventually took down.
In 2017, Rud is the Council Vice-Chair and Chair of the Finance and Administrative Services Committee on the Whatcom County Council. He also serves on the Public Works, Health and Safety Committee. In addition, he is appointed to several community boards and committees, including the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Whatcom Council of Governments, Flood Control Zone District Advisory Committee (ex officio), and the Washington State Association of Counties Legislative Steering Committee.
