Promine
PROMINE is a software program used in the mining and geology industries. It is commonly used throughout North America, Latin America, and Africa for the purposes of mine planning and resource modeling and is available in English, French, and Spanish. PROMINE is developed and distributed by the Canadian company Promine Inc. whose head office is located in Quebec City, Canada and in some parts of South America by SEMCO, a Promine Inc. partner company.
Company History
Promine Inc. (although not yet named) was created in early 1992 by Yvan Dionne in response to the growing need of the Mining Industry for new technologies. The software was named Promine by Jean-Guy Leclair and Bernard Parizé from the Casa Berardi mine in 1992. When the company was incorporated in August 1993 it adopted the software's name. The first employee at Promine Inc. other than the President and owner Yvan Dionne, was Phillipe Cantin who was hired in 1996 for his expertise as a Programmer-Analyst. Promine Inc.'s first clients were located in eastern Canada, especially in the Abitibi region of Quebec.
The first version of PROMINE ran with AutoCAD 12 and consisted of five Add-Ons:
*2D section
*Drift Planning
*Filer
*Grid
*Survey
PROMINE Software
PROMINE is a modular AutoCAD-integrated software program. Since PROMINE runs in an AutoCAD environment, users retain all AutoCAD capabilities when working with PROMINE. Since the program is modular, each module (or add-on as they are referred to by the company and users alike) can function as a standalone program, performing a specific mine development or geological exploration task, or, share information with one another to perform tasks collectively. New add-ons are routinely added and in addition to the 5 original, the latest version of PROMINE also includes the following:
*3D Bench
*3D Drift
*3D Model
*3D Raise
*Block Modeling
*Channels Samples
*Diamond Drill Holes
*Drill/Blast Surface
*Drill/Blast Underground
*Hole Planning
*Interface
*Library
*Promine Tools
*Proximity
*Raise Planning
*Ressources
*Room and Pillars
*Scheduling
*Solids
*Stope Design
*Surfaces
Locations
Promine Inc. has 3 offices in North America - Quebec City (headquarters), Rouyn-Noranda, and Vancouver.
