On May 18th, 2025, a large tornado struck the town of Plevna, Kansas, around 11:59 pm (CDT). Currently, no deaths are associated with this tornado, as well as 0 reported injuries, which is extremely lucky for a tornado of this size and strength. The tornado had a width of approximately 2 miles(Which is unconfirmed), which is among some of the largest tornadoes ever. With the largest tornado being only 0.6 miles larger than the one in discussion. The Plevna Kansas 2025 tornado was officially rated and EF3 with max wind speeds of around 155 miles per hour. The tornado may not have been a high rating tornado, but the damage the tornado caused is still severe, if not potentially pushing an ef4 strength winds. The tornado completely demolished multiple houses beyond recognition. The tornado has had few conformed reports of Tree debarking, as well as multiple reports of ground scouring, a factor only shown in some of the strongest of tornados. Many Storm Chasers that were chasing the supercell that formed the tornado that night, noticed that the tornado had multiple sub-vortices which were also caught on camera by multiple storm Chasers, that were following the supercell.
This tornado was shockingly similar to the 2007 Greensburg EF5, which was also a large wedge, with the width of the tornado being around . The tornado struck close to the town of Greensburg, which would have been a devastating loss after the first tornado many years ago.
