Platinum Hits: Adjustable Ratings Setting
Platinum Hits: Adjustable Ratings Setting is a tool that allows certain Xbox and Xbox 360 games, (see article "Platinum Hits") to adjust the settings that affect the ESRB ratings of E (everyone), E+10 (everyone, parental caution to children under 10), T (parental caution to those below teenage years), M (parental caution for non-adults), and Ao (adults only).
The Adjustable Ratings setting was introduced as part of Microsoft's efforts to introduce best-selling video games to a wider audience.
To edit a game's ESRB rating, a player simply edits some of the in-game settings. For example, someone wanting to remove the blood content from Call of Duty: 4 would use the options menu within the game to remove blood, thus lowering the game's ESRB rating from "M" to "T."
