Patrick McDermott (Massachusetts politician)

Patrick McDermott is the 23rd High Sheriff of Norfolk County. He was elected in November 2020 in a special election against acting Sheriff Jerry McDermott (no relation) to fill the remaining term of former Sheriff Michael G. Bellotti, who left the position in 2018 to become the interim president of Quincy College. Patrick McDermott was sworn in on January 6, 2020, at the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office and House of Correction in Dedham. He has a law degree from Suffolk University Law School. He served in the Massachusetts State House as a legislative aide to then-State Representative Bellotti, State Representative John H. Rogers, and State Senator Michael W. Morrissey.<ref name=":2" />
