History
Malgani tribe is one of a major sub-tribe of Nutkani Baloch tribe and descendant of Mir Malgh Khan Nutkani, who was the son of Mir Notak Khan Rind. As a result, Malganis are some times called as "Fakhar e Notak".Sardar Allah Yar Malghani was the chief of the Malghani tribe. Sardar Aslam Khan Malghani (Sardar of Sokar) was a nationalist leader who fought against British Empire. A lack of trained men, outdated weapons and conspiracies put him down in this struggle and he lost the battle, was arrested and sent to Afghanistan (then British territory) to spend a life of exile. He spent his last days and died and was buried there. Sardar Hassan Khan Malghani was a companion of Sardar Aslam Khan Malghani and later became the Sardar of Hassanabad Larra, village Hassan Abad Larra was recognized after the name of Sardar Hassan Khan Malghani.
Sardar ALLAH Bakhsh Khan Malghani was the grandson of the Hassan Khan Malghani, who was the great fighter and defender of his village.
The Malghani is a Baloch tribe. They are settled in village Sokar and Hassan abad larra Dera Ghazi Khan speak the Saraiki language but most of those living in Balochistan speak the Balochi language.Those living in Jaccobabad, Larkana, Dadoo (Sindh) and speak Sindhi. The Malghani is most famous and dangerous tribe of Balochs . The chief of Malghani tribe is Sardar Akram khan Malghani grandson of Sardar Aslam Khan Malghani .Sokar is the headquarter of Malghani tribe. Population of Sokar is about 30,000. Almost all the people living in Sokar are Malghanis. Literacy rate of Sokar is almost 95% to 98%. The occupation of Malghani tribe is agricultre. As Sokar is a cultiveable land, it is an agrarian territory. Majority of the population is engaged in agriculture. Agriculture is their source of bread and butter. CRBC ( Chashma Right Bank Cannal) which is off shoot of the Indus River,provides water for cultivation. Wheat and cotton are two major cash crops of Sokar.Rearing animals is also common here. People tend to flock herds also.
The people of here are also intellect. They have and are serving in various departments and various sectors of life.Iqbal Sokeri is a well known person. He is a poet of high intellect and expressed thoughts in Saraiki. He has been awarded with Pride of Performance Award by President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. His poetry is profound with local problems, injustice and mysticism.
Another dominant figure is Professor Muhammmad Khan Malghani.He has taught Sociology at college level for more than 35 years and has been a prominent figure in his field. He is an intellect, critic of Saraiki language and has written preface of many literary books. Education, culture, literature, anthropology and politics are his main fields of interest. He is really a fantastic person and a polymath .
