Libraries in fiction

This is a chronology of notable fictional and stories (including films, episodes in TV series, as well as literary works) that are either set, either wholly or partially, in a Library, or else which librarians feature prominently. The years listed on the left refer to the year of release of the works.
1990s
* 1993 - Twilight of the Gods, an episode from the TV show Inspector Morse. The Bodleian Library was one of the filming locations for this episode.
* 1997 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a TV series in which Rupert Giles, a librarian, serves as Buffy Summers' mentor and surrogate father figure.
2000s
* 2001, November - , which featured Hogwarts Library.
* 2001, December - The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, in which Gandalf travels to Gondor, to search Lord Denethor's library about the Ring in Bilbo Baggins' possession.
* 2002, March - The Time Machine, a film adaptation of H. G. Wells's novel, featuring a holographic artificial intelligence librarian at the New York City public library in the year 2030 and afterwards.
* 2002, August - Blood work, starring Clint Eastwood, who does a computer database search in a library, and retrieves two important newspaper articles.
* 2002, November - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, featuring Hogwarts Library.
* 2004 - The Librarian: Quest for the Spear
* 2005 - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, featuring Hogwarts Library.
* 2006, June - Shadow Man, starring Steven Seagal. This film closes with a shootout at a central library.
* 2006, December - The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines
* 2008 - The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice
* 2009 - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, featuring Hogwarts Library.
