Lewis Black (businessman)

Lewis Black (born July 4, 1968) is a British-American entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of the global mining company Almonty Industries. The company is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. He is active in the international resource industry, emphasizing the strategic importance of tungsten and the stability of its supply chain.
Early life and education
Lewis Black was born in London, United Kingdom, on July 4, 1968. He attended University of Manchester and earned a BA degree in management and technology before joining a global insurance firm upon graduating. His career later shifted toward a focus on mining, and he has since accumulated more than 15 years of experience within the industry.
Career
Prior to Almonty’s founding, Lewis Black served as head of sales and marketing for SC Mining Tungsten, Thailand. He also held the roles of chairman and chief executive officer of Primary Metals Inc. (“PMI”), a former TSX Venture Exchange (TSX-V) listed tungsten mining company, between June 2005 and December 2007.
In 2011, He co-founded Almonty Industries with Daniel D’Amato following the acquisition of the Los Santos Mine. On September 28 of the same year, they listed Almonty on the TSX Venture Exchange. As a founder, Black has led the company to become the largest tungsten producer outside of China.
The name Almonty Industries was created to honor the fathers of the two founders. "Monty" comes from Lewis Black's father, Monty Black, and "Al" is derived from Daniel D’Amato’s father, Alfonse D'Amato.
