Companion Pieces: Fantasy Furnishings is a fantasy role-playing game supplement published by The Companions in 1982.
Contents
Companion Pieces: Fantasy Furnishings, designed to be used with miniature figurines and floor plans commonly used with fantasy role-playing game of the time, is a set of black and white stickers illustrating pieces of furniture and other items commonly found in fantasy role-playing game settings of the time such as "barrels, trapdoors, sacks, cauldrons, benches, stools, thrones, pews, candelabra, and so on."
Reception
In Issue 57 of The Space Gamer November 1982), Lewis Pulsipher noted that "The black-and-white sheets in this set are designed to be pressed on cardboard bought by the buyer, then to be cut out by him - not an exacting task but a long one requiring some care." Pulsipher thought that the 25 mm-scale stickers looked too small compared to miniatures, commenting, "Aside
from the tendency to manufacture normal 25s at 28-30mm scale, the lead figures seem disproportionately large because of their third
dimension, height. The furnishings will seem much more natural if you use flat cardboard markers for characters instead of miniatures." Pulsipher questioned the need for these stickers, saying, "They are, of course, better than nothing for adding precision and a visual aspect to your descriptions and battle set-ups; but, on the other hand, a decent amateur artist could produce usable drawings nearly as aesthetically pleasing as these." Pulsipher concluded, "This kind of thing is certainly not necessary to fantasy gaming, but it is competently produced for those who value the idea."
