Chia Hong v. Facebook
Chia Hong v. Facebook is a gender discrimination and race discrimination lawsuit filed by Chia Hong against her former employer, Facebook. The lawsuit was filed in San Mateo County Superior Court by Lawless & Lawless, one of two law firms which represented Ellen Pao in Pao v. Kleiner Perkins.
Chia Hong worked for Facebook over three years as a product manager and technology partner in finance. She was fired on October 17th, 2013. She has since filed suit against the social network web host for sexual discrimination, sexual harassment, race discrimination, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. There are other charges. She claims Facebook was a "hostile work environment," belittling, ordered to organize social functions and serve drinks to male colleagues. She claims to have been asked why she didn't take care of her child. She also claims she was discriminated against as a woman and as Taiwanese. Some analysts project that the filing will improve hiring and promotion practices in tech companies like Facebook and Twitter.
