Chad Condit
Chad Condit is running as an Independent for California's 10th congressional district.
Early Life and Career
Chad Condit is the son of Carolyn and Gary Condit, the former congressman that gained media attention following the disappearance of a Washington intern. He has a younger sister named Cadee. Chad married Helen Filice in 1988 and the couple has three children: Channce, Couper, and Gary.
Chad attended Ceres High School. He went to Modesto Junior College and California State University, Stanislaus before joining the Navy in 1991. While in the Navy, he graduated from Saint Leo College with a BA in Human Resources. He was honorably discharged by the Navy in 1995.
Chad worked as a Senior Legislative Assistant for Assembly Majority Leader Charles Calderon, as Assistant to California Governor Gray Davis, Chief of Staff for Assemblyman Dennis Cardoza, and as a Legislative Aide to Senator Charles Calderon. In 2001 Chad and his sister left Gray Davis’ office over comments the governor made about their father in regard to the Levy scandal.
Acting as the Gary’s campaign manager and the Condit family representative, Chad gained media notoriety through his condemnation of the media and police’s misplaced focus on Gary Condit for Chandra Levy's disappearance. He appeared on many networks, such as CNN, NBC’s the Last Word, and ABC's Good Morning America .
In 2006, the Fair Political Practices Commission sued Chad and Cadee over alleged misuse of their father's campaign funds. These charges were later dismissed by the FPPC. In 2007 Baskin Robbins successfully sued the Condit family for failing to meet franchise obligations.
His campaign focuses on equality for the Central Valley, promoting agriculture’s economic and community value, actively serving the constituents, and working to break partisan gridlock in Congress.
