Bruce Bickerton
Bruce Bickerton, known professionally as Alucidnation, is an English record producer, songwriter, DJ, and sound engineer known for his chill out and electronica melodies.
Biography
Bruce Bickerton, known as alucidnation, born in Coventry Warwickshire England in March 1968, embarked on his musical journey in the early 1990 after investing in his first studio setup. With a background in classical piano and experience as a studio engineer, he was well-prepared for a music career. The ambient house scene of the late 80s inspired him to start buying his own gear, turning a side hobby alongside design and advertising jobs into a full-fledged career.
Bickerton was a regular at the Big Chill Festivals from 1999 to 2010, DJing and performing at events that took him across the Far East, India, and Europe. This scene was pivotal, fostering the growth of ambient music, DIY culture, and live electronic performances. During this time, Bruce released two well-received albums, 'Induction' and 'Get Lost,' on Big Chill Recordings, along with two EPs.
Bickerton's music emphasizes melody and a calming, grounded sound, avoiding trendy plugins for a timeless quality. He values capturing the soul of a recording by favoring one-take keys and vocals, and he commits to his sound by flattening the desk, preventing revisions. His track Skygazer, was featured on Grand theft Auto IV
Bickerton also manages his own label, Lucid Recordings, and is signed to Interchill Records and Six Degrees. He's remixed tracks for artists like Tom Middleton and Ulrich Schnauss, and hosts a radio show called 'Eclectronica'.
