Bin Xie (researcher)

Bin Xie is a researcher, scientist, and entrepreneur. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), has published over 70 articles in IEEE conferences and journals, and has authored three books. Xie also served as a research associate in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cincinnati.
Xie is the founder and CEO of InfoBeyond Technology, a US-based company specializing in technology consulting, research, and software development.
Education
Xie earned his BSc degree from Central South University in Changsha, China. He then received his MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from the J. B. Speed School of Engineering, University of Louisville, in 2003 and 2006, respectively.
Career
Xie has served as a research associate at the University of Cincinnati with Dharma Agrawal. During this time at the UC, he and Agrawal co-edited the book, Encyclopedia on Ad Hoc and Ubiquitous Computing.
Public service
From 2009 to 2015, Xie served on the National Institutes of Health's Special Emphasis Panel for System Science and Health in the Behavioral and Social Sciences. He has served as the guest editor for Elsevier's Future Generation Computer Systems (FGCS) Journal (special issue on Mobile Computing) and for Sensors (special issue on IoT and Intelligent Wireless Network Communications).
Xie co-founded CyberC, an international conference on cyber-enabled technology co-sponsored by several organizations, including IEEE, AT&T, HP, EMC, RainStor, Teradata, Huawei, ZTE, EXAR, Samsung, and Microsoft.
InfoBeyond
In 2008, Xie founded InfoBeyond Technology, a company specializing in technology consulting, research and software development, focusing on mobile computing, AI/ML, and cybersecurity. InfoBeyond provides novel solutions for national defense, government, healthcare, and finance. and in 2024, he was recognized as Executive of the Year at the Asian American Engineer of the Year Award.
