Life in the Old Cloth is a 2024 British drama film written, directed, and composed by Eveshka Ghost. The film was produced by Caroline Gilbert, with executive production by Xander Phillips and Thomas Walters, under Rusalka Pictures Ltd and distributed by Burning Bulb Publishing alongside Rusalka Pictures.
Plot
Lance Corporal Charles William Morris, a soldier declared lost during World War II in 1943, awakens decades later in the present day, still bound by a sense of duty. When he is discovered in a decaying house by his granddaughter Mary and an urban explorer named Ewan, Morris believes his mission is not yet complete, forcing them to confront the lingering effects of the past.

Production
Filming took place in 2020 at a private location in East Grinstead, West Sussex. The film was shot on digital media and is entirely live-action, with Ghost also serving as cinematographer. The project was produced on a micro-budget.
Release
Life in the Old Cloth premiered on 8 October 2024 at the Chequer Mead Theatre in East Grinstead, West Sussex.
The film later became available through online retail platforms including Amazon.
Reception
Life in the Old Cloth received recognition on the independent film festival circuit. It won Best Drama Feature at the Robinson Film Awards in June 2024, and Best Sussex Production at the Crossing the Screen Eastbourne International Film Festival in 2025.
The film was discussed on BBC Radio Sussex in 2025, where executive producer and lead actor Xander Phillips spoke about the film's themes of family and remembrance.
