Shente Shih Tzu

Shente, permantly registered, is a well known name in the Shih Tzu breed, having produced many top Shih Tzu in both Canada and the US for over 30 years. Shente is most well known for the success of Shente’s Brandy Alexander – “Brandy” and Shente’s Christian Dior – “Christian” from the late 70’s to early 90’s. Many of today’s top Shih Tzu can be traced back to these to dogs. Shente continues to produce many top Shih Tzu and has had a dog on the top ten list for the last 5 years.



Beginnings



Shente, permanently registered, began with the purchase of a black and white female, Ch Miss Tzuzzie Q of Chru-Ling, in 1975. Upon the completion of her championship this girl played a major role in founding the Shente line. The birth of Multi BIS BISS Am. Can. Ch. Shente's Brandy Alexander in 1978 was the beginning of great things for Shente Kennels.

Shente’s Brandy Alxander – “Brandy”



Born in 1978 Shente’s Brandy Alexander “Brandy” brought Shente to the forefront of the Shih Tzu breed. Brandy quickly completed both is Canadian and American Championships. Brandy dominated the Show world obtaining 75 Best in Shows in many specialties, Canadian and American shows. For seven consecutive years Brandy was Canada’s top Shih Tzu and Canada’s Top Non Sporting dog. The highlight of his career came in 1989 when, at 11 years of age, he took the coveted Best of Breed at the Westminster Kennel Club Show. Siring over 100 champions, Brandy met is only match in his grandson, Shente’s Christian Dior “Christian”.


Shente’s Christian Dior – “Christian”



Towards the end of Brandy’s distinguished career is grandson Shente’s Christian Dior entered the show ring. Christian took over where his grandfather left off obtaining both his Canadian and American championships. Surpassing all expectations Christian accumulated 98 Best in Shows in Canadian, American and specialty shows. Not to be out done by his grandfather, Christian was Canada’s top All Breed Dog and won Best in Show at the Canadian Kennel Clubs Centennial Show in 1988! Siring over 100 champions, there has not been a rival for Christian.
Both Christian and Bandy have passed on, but both have left their mark on the Shih Tzu breed. Many pedigree’s and Shih Tzu lines can be traced back to these two dogs, especially Shente Shih Tzu.


Honorable Mentions



Shente has produced many remarkable dogs and who have impacted the Shih Tzu breed in Canada. Most recently Am. Can. Ch. Ultra’s Guilt Trip of Shente “Tirpper” has received recognition as Register of Merritt (ROM). Tripper’s son Am. Can. Ch. Shente’s Sentimental Journey “Journey” (2003, 2004) and his son Am. Can. Ch. Shente’s Rhythm Of my Heart “Rhythm” (2006, 2007) have made the Top 10 Shih Tzu List. Tripper’s grandson Am. Can. Ch. Shente’s An Affiar to Remember “Grant” (2005, 2006) also made the Top Ten list. Grant’s daughter Ch. Shente’s Georgia On My Mind “Georgia” was #1 Shih Tzu Puppy and #4 on the Top 10 Shih Tzu list in 2007!
