Randy Mengullo (born in Bacolod City, Philippines, on 25th December 1972) is a prominent karate practitioner and Jack & Jill School Chief Instructor. He is a holder of the rank in Shotokan karate, 3rd dan and a Black Belt.

He began studying full contact karate at the age of 13 with his uncle sensei Rexie Diocares and family friend sensei Rodolfo Gino, both are respected full contact karate champions and masters in the year 1970's up to 80's. 5 years later he studied another full contact martial arts Kick Boxing due to the popularity of sport and the influenced of the famous Jean Claude Van Damme Kickboxer and Blood Sport movies. He won two amateur bouts and one title bout in 55kgs. category.

In 1990, at the age of 19, he earned his Black Belt in karate while pursuing a degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Management at West Negros College now (West Negros University). During his college years (3rd year), he was invited for a karate demonstration at Jack & Jill School dojo where he soon attracted a large following of dedicated karatekas but he decided first to finish his studies before taking the job as full time karate instrutor of the school.

** Paricipated in the 13th KOI Karate World Cup

Trainer / Coach

Sensei Mengullo established karatedo at Jack & Jill School in which the team is a member of Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (NOPSSCEA), where it fields team in many events. Sensei Mengullo is the founding member of Negros Occidental Karatedo Federation (NOKAF) in the 1990s. Aside from NOPSSCEA, the JJS Karatedo Team participates and garnered recognations in the Philippine Karatedo Federation National Championship, Mayor Evelio Leonardia Cup, the Batang Pinoy, Philippine National Youth Games, Philippine Olympic Festival, UMA-ONEBA Presidential Cup, Philippine Sports Commission Tournaments and athletic meet of different schools in the Philippines.

Sensei Mengullo is the executive secretary of Negros Occidental Karatedo Federation and was given an authority by Philippine Karatedo Federation-Visayas under Vice President for Visayas Jun Roldan as coordinator for school affairs which aims to propagate karatedo as a school base sports in the country just like Taekwondo and Boxing where already recognized as a regular sports in many athletic meet in the Philippines..

History of Karate in JJS

In 1978 Cecila Del Castillo-Lopez established a karate sports program for grades 4-6 pupils in preparation for NOPSSCEA playground demonstration and for the next school year the school administrators formally include the Karate training program in the Physical Education class for all elementary pupils as a whole year activity.

Sensei Alexander Reyes (Shorin-ryu) started the expermental traning in 1978 up to 1985. Then followed by Grabrilla Santos (Tangsoodo) from 1988 up to 1990. Sensei Randy Mengullo entered Jack & Jill School in the school year of 1994 in whom he organized/introduced Karatedo as a sport in school and a regular P.E. subject to all pupils and presently he is the chief instructor and martial arts coordinator of all JJS brances. Sensei Mengullo adapts Shotokan and Wado-ryu Japanese fighting system based on World Karate Federation standard. Due to the number of students enrol each year and for the addition of high school students the school administrators hired new instructor for Victorias branch in the person of sensei Riemel Quima (Taekwondo) 1996 up to 1999 followed by sensei Michol Brana (Karatedo) 1999 up to 2002 and sensei Elan Delfin (Karatedo) in the school year of 2002 up to present handling Victorias and City Heights brances.
