This tasty treat that we all know and love was discovered about 2,000 years ago in the rainforests of the Americas. The first known chocolate was made by the ancient cultures of Mexico and Central America. They mixed cacao seeds with different seasings to create a spicy, frothy drink. The drink to them had more of religous and royal meaning behind it. In Aztec and Mayan cultures cacao seeds were seens as offereings to the gods and they would drink their creation during sacred ceremonies. When Spanish conquistadores came to the Americas they took some of the seeds back with them to Spain where new creations were made. It had growing popularity and was soon found all over Europe. Ever since this amazing discovery people have changed the texture and tast and is still considered one of the world's favorite flavors.
