Manchin
A manchin is an indonesian body art form very similar to a tattoo. It is believed to date back to an ancient initiation ceremony in the Dayak tribe. It is made with the blood of one of the seven types of forest leeches, abundant in the rainforests of Indonesia.

Historical background
Manchin remenants have been found dating back to the first century B.C. on the Borneo island, leading many to believe that the practice began with the Dayaks.

Popularity
It has recently become somewhat of a hit in western culture, increasing in popularity due to celebrities such as Peter Andre getting one. It was also a topic conversation in the 2008 Big Brother house.
