Luke Nicholas Heron (born September 20, 1978) is an Edinburgh based entrepreneur and investor. A high-school drop out, Heron scored a job at a major US investment bank when he was 15, later working his way up the corporate ladder before infamously losing his role following a confrontation with management. Heron has since forged a career in private equity, and now holds a considerable portfolio of quoted and unquoted assets across a broad spectrum of industries. Heron is also known to be a significant supporter of Edinburgh based charity Children 1st and International anti death penalty group, Reprieve.

Biography

Born and raised in Muswell Hill, North London, Heron comes from a well known financial family. He spent six years working
for the investment bank, Merrill Lynch, where he eventually lost his position following an alleged altercation with senior management. Upon his departure from the City in late 2000, Heron was immediately recruited to write for the web-based financial group Insensia, focusing on the little-known OFEX market. Over the next three years, Heron built on his reputation as a commentator on the junior London market, contributing articles to The Herald newspaper, Unquoted Magazine, UP Business Magazine and The Investors Chronicle. He later established the online financial information forum, FinFoEx.com, which he eventually sold to Valiant Financial Media for an undisclosed sum.

In 2005, Heron joined Rivington Street Holdings Limited as editor of a well-known small-caps tipsheet. A speaker at the company's Master Investor event; Heron eventually parted company with the group in September of 2007 to focus on his growing private equity interests. Currently, he is known to hold significant interests in Smart Identity Plc, Cherwell Capital Plc, whilst his unlisted holdings and interests are known to include Green Growth Capital, New Franchise Group, eCart, Net Ventures Limited among others.
