Jahan Khanna

Jahan Khanna (born September 3, 1987) is an American Internet entrepreneur and Computer Scientist. He was the co-founder and CTO of Sidecar, an on-demand peer-to-peer taxi service that was billed as a rideshare community with operations based in San Francisco, CA. Prior to that, he was the co-founder and CTO of Shepherd Intelligent Systems, a University of Michigan technology spin-out that sold an intelligent transit mapping system.
With the initial build of Sidecar in 2011, Khanna and Sunil Paul created the first Transportation Network Company and with it, invented the concept of Real time Ridesharing. In an interview, Khanna says the idea first occurred to him when he received a ride home from a pizza delivery service in the San Francisco Marina District.
Sidecar was sold to General Motors in a January 2016 asset purchase. As part of the acquisition, Khanna was briefly part of GM Ridesharing initiatives, but citing disagreements between himself and GM, left two months later to run the vehicle solutions product and growth team at Uber, where he is currently employed today.
