Gabe Scelta (1978-) is a San Francisco based artist, designer and author. He was born in and received a BFA from Boston University.
Writing He is the author of several scholarly papers on African writing systems including (2001) and The Calligraphy and Architecture of the Nomadic Tuareg within the Geometric Context of Islam (2002). He worked on the Rosetta Project as both a researcher and designer. He also writes fiction and is the author of a short story included in the 2008 Lambda Literary Award-nominated book Fucking Daphne: Mostly True Stories and Fictions (Daphne Gottlieb, ed., Seal Press, 2008).
Art and Design His artwork is in several private collections and is routinely exhibited through Femina Potens Gallery at that and other San Francisco venues, including as well as independently at bars, clubs and other galleries in San Francisco and New York. He is a yearly participant in NudeAid, a fundraiser for the Center For Sex & Culture. Critics have called the work "erotic and evocative".
