Fiery Red Leather

Print E-mail
A Fiery Red Leather is a cocktail based on the margarita. The recipe is 60ml whiskey, 30ml triple sec, grenadine, lemon, and a slice of lime on the rim. It can be served on the rocks or frozen (which is particularly popular in hot weather). The name is derived from the drink's red appearance and its crisp, tangy and adventurous flavour.

The Fiery Red Leather came into being and gained popularity at San AntonioTexas June 29th - July 2nd 2008 during the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) organised by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). This new cocktail gained credibility through word of mouth becoming available at various outlets upon request. The notion of a whiskey based 'margarita' has elicited excitement of a new direction in cocktail creation worthy of documentation.

As creator of the Fiery Red Leather it gives me great pride to see such worthy documentation of this drink. To my knowledge, it has now been created in three different countries.

I encourage everyone to try this drink and upload a bit of a report and picture (if possible) somewhere on the internet. Importantly I and others are keen to see innovative creations/variations of whisky based matgaritas. These could also be documented online eg http://moourl.com/frl

If the Fiery Red Leather doesn't suit your taste .... how would/did you modify it?

Enjoy and spread the word. Cheers, Al
