Emily Springfield

Emily Springfield (born 1992, Queensland, Australia) is an Australian writer. Her mother was an occupational therapist for the University of Queensland and it was through this avenue that Emily became involved with Cognitive Orientational Occupational Performance (CO-OP), a technique taught by occupational therapists to children and adults.
When she was 13 and attending Hillbrook Anglican School Springfield wrote the picture book Freddy Solves A Problem. Two years later, when she was 15, the book was published by the University of Queensland. Her cousin, freelance artist and illustrator Rachael Zelensky, illustrated the book.
The picture book tells the story of a little dragon who can't tie up his shoelaces, but through the help of goal plan and a numbat he learns a lifelong method of overcoming all hurdles he will ever encounter.
