David Rankovich, born and raised in the city of Newcastle, started his football career with the Maitland Magpies, his stinct with them lasted 10 years before the move to the NBN state league, were he ultimately joined Weston FC. Through Weston U/19's to leading goalscorer, lead his opputunity into first grade, for which he achieved a hat-trick on his first game. Round 8 saw him been scouted by Jets Assisted Coach, Mark Jones, which awarded him a trial with the Newcastle Jets. This trial was achieved, a contract worth over $500,000 for 5 years. While training with the AIS, his career prospects are only bound to reach high levels.
