Benjamin "Ben" Barrick is an American businessman, author, and leader in the field of foreign affairs. He is currently the Senior Vice President of DVS Group International, which was named the #104 fastest growing company in 2008 by INC Magazine's INC 500. He also serves as President of the New York based Manhattan Committee on Foreign Relations and is Chairman/co-founder of the North Florida Committee on Foreign Relations. Barrick also serves part-time as the Chancellor of the American Institute on Foreign Policy. He is also a contributing author to Policy Review.
Background and early life
Born the son of a Disciples of Christ reverend, Benjamin is the fifth of six children. Barrick attended Noblesville High School in Noblesville, Indiana, and received his Bachelors Degree from Troy University.
Foreign Affairs
Barrick is credited in co-founding the North Florida Committee on Foreign Relations (NFCFR), a regional chapter of the American Committees on Foreign Relations, in the Summer of 2008. Currently, according to the North Florida Committee on Foreign Relations Barrick serves as Chairman of the Board for the Committee alongside Brigadier General William Webb, former United States Congressman Bill Gunter, among others.
Currently, he serves as President of the Manhattan Committee on Foreign Relations which is based in Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan and is considered an elite, private organization. The Manhattan Committee on Foreign Relations received international press when the Washington Post published a widely read article referencing the Manhattan Committee and its relationship with the Council on Foreign Relations. Barrick has been at the center of this controversy.
On October 16, 2009, Barrick announced the expansion of the American Institute on Foreign Policy to serve college and high school students. Barrick serves as Senior Policy Director and Chancellor for the AIFP. The AIFP offers "the Diploma in Advanced International Affairs program as an innovative program that aims to create a community of active learners who are engaged in learning about foreign policy issues and the connection that exists between their personal lives and international events." This program is run through colleges and universities throughout the country including Florida State University.
