Alduil

Alduil is the main character in the first and third novels of the series The Aldi Wars. He becomes the King of Haldor in the beginning of the first book after his father was slain.

Characteristics

Alduil's most notable characteristics are his appearance and grammar. He is described as having "Black, greasy, dandruff ridden hair" in the first book. It is also clarified that he looks as though he is Kazakhstani, although Kazakhstan does not seem to exist in the book's universe. His laugh also looks somewhat insane in the description. His eyes look upwards and his dimples push his eyes almost completely shut.

Throughout the book Alduil wields a sword and wooden shield. The New King Of Haldor appears to be the best with a sword known in the land. For the block of the book before the return to Aldrandir, Alduil wears a leather tunic, with chainmail and a red shirt sticking out of the sides. On his back he bore the green, blood-stained cloak of his father.

Heritage

Alduil was adopted by Hollister, and is currently the only one not knowing this. This is despite the fact that they aren't even the same race. He was born in The Northern Lands, an area not mapped or explored. This means most of the Northerners, excluding The Waffle Clan, were Kazakhstani in appearance.

Relationships

Tyler
-Tyler is Alduil's best friend and most trusted officer. Although Tyler is considered by the others to be less powerful than Alduil, he kills many more men in battle. This may be supporting the idea that Alduil convinces everyone he is the best, and they end up not being able to see the reality of things. Tyler, although is generally too nice to Alduil, sometimes will call him White as an insult. Ironically Tyler is White and Alduil is not. But Alduil doesn't take offense, as his father never told him he was adopted.

Hollister
- Although Hollister and Alduil's relationship is only seen throughout the first chapter, it is already quite clear that Hollister does not respect his adopted son. He adopted him becuase of his disappointment in Evan, his real son. He does like Alduil though, abundantly more than Evan.

Evan
- Evan is jealous of Alduil's relationship with Hollister. Although Hollister doesn't treat Alduil like a person, more like a soldier, Evan still strives for his attention. Hollister even gave his kingdom to his adopted, youngest son instead of Evan. Throughout the journey Evan tries to poke holes in Alduil's plans to show he would be a better king, but fails on every occasion.

Mathias
- Alduil's relationship with Mathias is more complicated than the others. Matt and Alduil used to be friends until the end of The Northern Wars. Alduil got the credit for the capture of the leader of the North. While Mathias, who had done more to assure the victory, was sent back to Matdon with nothing but dead men. Obviously once Mathias betrayed his kingdom, the pair's rivalry and hatred were ignited.

Daniel
- Daniel is another one of Alduil's best friends. Although he constantly makes fun of his socks and makes him perform the most dangerous tasks, they are still great friends.

Ian
- He served with Alduil in The Northern Wars, as did almost every other officer of Matdon. When Ian is captured by Alduil at The Battle of Linan Castle, Daniel is sent in to save him from the burning Haltimer. He then seamlessly joins their army. This shows how Alduil isn't very picky with his officers, accepting Ian who followed Mathias into his own ranks. However, Ian hasn't betrayed Alduil, other than breaking wind on him and his company.
